Indices del Pacifico
Making art can be a therapeutic practice where we are inspired by materials around us, as well as the experiences of our past. Some disciplines such as Art Therapy are all about integrating life into art making.
In this episode Junior Curator Academy hosts, Sophie and David, explore the work and life of Therman Statom and his piece Indices del Pacifico. Statom is interviewed by Jabari and discusses his work as an artist, activist, and educator. The overlap of Therman Statom’s practice and the healing nature of art leads to an interview with Art Therapist, Ashley Mason. Junior curators also learn about commissions and different methods of working with glass, such as assemblage.
